I have always been deeply inspired by our capacity, as human beings, to heal and thrive. I am a caring, curious, engaged, well-rounded, intuitive, skilled and wholehearted massage therapist.
I began my career as a Registered Massage Therapist in Toronto, in 2002. While I always kept a private home-based massage practice, I also had the opportunity to work as an educator in Massage Therapy programs and later led the exam content development for the Massage Therapy certification examinations in Ontario.
I studied dance professionally for 15 years. I still dance today, in the context of 5Rhythms embodiment dance practice. My years in dance offered me an intrinsic knowledge of the body in motion, intellectually but also as a felt sense, which provides me with deeper knowledge and insights into the human body as a whole. As a poet, artist, dance-filmmaker, healer and sensitive human being, I deeply honour the intricate inner movements of the soul while acknowledging the importance - and unskippable step - of safety and embodiment.
Part of my work with you includes building your level of awareness and trust within your own body so that you can begin to be more attuned to its subtle cues, really listen and honour its messages with compassion and empower you to be an active participant in your own healing journey.
My approach emerges from years of clinical practice combined with my own lived experience which has been one of my greatest teachers. I am both intuitive and evidenced-based. Massage therapy can decrease tension, promote alignment and balance, and prevent and treat injuries. It can also be a pivotal access point in building trust and connection with ourselves resulting in decreased stress and increased emotional wellbeing.
My massage practice is predominantly woman-centred. I am trauma informed. I also work with clients recovering from eating disorders, disordered eating and body image distress. I have honed my skills in assessment and rehabilitation from injuries yet also deeply consider how our nervous system has a big part to play in our experience and capacity to heal. Our bodies are trustworthy and deeply knowledgeable. Through my very hands-on approach I weave in philosophies of mindfulness, self-compassion and nervous system regulation within the scope of Massage Therapy.
If you have massage therapy coverage under your health insurance plan, you may submit your receipt for reimbursement directly to your insurance company.
I hold three spaces in my massage practice for people who need to access massage therapy but are in need of a sliding scale. If you would like to know more about this option please contact me directly to discuss. If all three spaces are taken, you can request to be put on the waiting list for access to the sliding scale.
